Since I was about 17 I have always had an interest in working with wood, and my stepfather always said "find something to do with your hands, do something with your hands." So with that I set in search of a way to do that. At first I tried traditional wood carving, but that meant that I either had to have a firm image of what I wanted in my head, or I had to be able to draw what I wanted. I can't draw for nothing, and a firm image in my head is fine as long as I can keep it there long enough to get the piece made, but that was nearly impossible due to distractions (the image seemed to always change every time I tried to re acquire it). In late 2009 help with this arrived when I purchased a wood lathe, finally I was able to do something with my hands that didn't take an eon to do, and it's been nothing but fun ever since.
